Referral links & cookies
This page explains the one piece of tracking CrewVet does on the homeowner side: referral links and the attribution cookie behind them. It is not our full company privacy policy.
What the referral link does
When someone with a CrewVet homeowner account shares a pro, the link carries a random 12-character code that identifies the account that shared it — not their name, email or phone. If you land on such a link, we store that code in a first-party cookie (cv_ref) for 30 days and record that a visit happened, so we can see which shared links bring people in.
The framing
This is first-party analytics, subject to ordinary privacy and cookie-disclosure obligations. The cookie is set by CrewVet, read only by CrewVet, and used only to attribute a visit to the share that caused it.
What is not collected
- No IP address stored against the referral.
- No user agent, device fingerprint, or cross-site tracking.
- No third-party advertising cookie.
- No sale or sharing of this data with anyone.
Retention
Records are intended to be retained for no more than 400 days, after which they are reviewed and deleted manually — no scheduled job enforces the deadline.
Referrer leakage
CrewVet sets a strict-origin-when-cross-origin referrer policy, so a referral code in your address bar is not passed to other websites in a Referer header when you follow a link away from CrewVet.
If you save a home profile, CrewVet may send occasional seasonal maintenance reminders. The consent basis, the exact cadence, and one-click unsubscribe are described in our seasonal-email policy, and every message carries an unsubscribe link.
